After extraction, this panel lists each regular file with its size and a separate download link.

The extractor handles regular files in supported single-volume RAR archives. Multipart, encrypted, damaged, or very large archives may need a desktop utility.

How this RAR extractor works

The RAR extractor follows a controlled local flow: inspect the archive, show a short directory preview, and extract regular files only when you ask. Each result receives its own temporary download link.

1

Choose a RAR file

Drop a complete .rar file into the input area or use Browse files. The extractor checks the extension, RAR signature, multipart naming, and 512 MB browser guardrail before reading the directory.

2

Review the file list

A local metadata scan shows the archive name, detected RAR version, file count, and the first paths. Use View all files when you need to search the full list before extracting.

3

Extract regular files

Click Extract files when the archive looks right. A browser worker reads each regular entry and prepares a Blob URL without sending the source archive to a required server.

4

Download what you need

When extraction finishes, download individual files from the result list. The source RAR remains unchanged and temporary links are released when you choose another archive.

What this RAR extractor reads before extraction

The preview answers a practical question: is this the right archive before you spend time unpacking it? It exposes names and counts without rendering every entry into the page at once.

A

Lightweight archive metadata

After you select a file, the local archive engine reads the RAR header and directory records needed to identify the archive. The first state is a scan, not a full extraction or a preview of file contents.

  • File name and browser-reported size
  • Detected RAR4 or RAR5 signature when available
  • Count of regular file entries
  • First five paths as a quick sanity check
B

Full list only when you ask

View all files opens a filterable, windowed list. This keeps a large directory from creating thousands of visible DOM rows before they are useful, while still giving you a way to find a specific path.

  • Search names and relative paths
  • Render only the visible list window
  • Keep folder structure in the ZIP path
  • Avoid mixing the example with your archive

What the RAR extractor supports

RAR files can contain different compression methods, encryption settings, and volume layouts. The table makes the current browser boundary explicit so an unsupported archive is not mistaken for an empty result.

RAR extractor support and limitations
Archive case Status What to expect
Single-volume .rar Supported Choose the complete archive file and convert its regular file entries into one ZIP.
RAR4 and RAR5 Attempted The archive engine can recognize both signatures; unusual compression or browser memory can still cause a failure.
Folders and multiple files Supported Relative folder paths are preserved when the ZIP entries are written.
Multipart .part1.rar or .r00 Not yet Select the complete single-volume archive; do not combine volumes in the file picker.
Password-protected archive Not yet The page reports a password-required state instead of guessing an empty directory.
Archives above 512 MB Blocked Browser memory varies. Use a smaller archive or a desktop converter for very large jobs.

Your files stay in your browser

A browser-based RAR extractor helps when an archive contains personal files or client material that you would rather not upload. RAR2ZIP uses the File API, a Web Worker, WebAssembly, and a local Blob download in the current browser session.

The page does not put file names, folder paths, or archive contents into a URL. It does not need an account, upload queue, or server-side conversion job for the ordinary workflow. Local processing is a boundary, not a promise that every archive will succeed.

No required upload

The selected RAR is opened by the browser-side archive engine.

No account step

You can choose, convert, and download without signing in.

Temporary output

The ZIP exists as a local download object until you save it or leave the page.

RAR extraction and ZIP conversion are different tasks

Extracting a RAR archive means opening its directory and writing the contained regular files to your device. Converting RAR to ZIP adds a second packaging step. Use this page when you need the files themselves, not a new archive container.

The extractor does not overwrite the source RAR, upload its contents, or promise that every proprietary compression or encryption setting will work. When the browser cannot safely read an archive, it reports the boundary instead of creating a partial download list.

RAR

Useful when the source is already RAR

RAR archives can contain folders, multiple files, recovery records, encryption, and volume information. This page focuses on reading a complete single-volume source safely.

ZIP

Convenient for broad compatibility

ZIP is widely recognized by file managers and operating systems. A ZIP result is often easier to open when the recipient does not have a RAR utility installed.

OUTPUT

The original archive stays unchanged

The RAR extractor creates a new download. It does not overwrite, delete, or rename the source file on your device.

Troubleshooting RAR extraction

A clear error is better than a misleading download. If the local engine cannot read or extract an archive, RAR2ZIP clears old output and keeps the recovery action visible.

Multipart archive detected

Names such as .part1.rar, .part01.rar, or .r00 usually indicate companion volumes. The current page expects one complete .rar file and cannot safely guess which parts belong together.

Try this: Use a desktop utility to join or extract all volumes, then create one ZIP file.

Password or encrypted entries

An encrypted RAR may reveal too little metadata for a trustworthy preview. This version does not collect passwords or create a ZIP from an archive it cannot unlock.

Try this: Open it with a trusted local utility that supports the password, then export a ZIP if permitted.

Damaged or incomplete file

A failed download, truncated attachment, or damaged header can stop scanning or extraction. RAR2ZIP does not label a partial result as a successful ZIP.

Try this: Obtain the archive again and confirm it finishes downloading before retrying.

Browser memory or file size

The 512 MB input limit is a guardrail, not a guarantee that every archive of that size will fit. Extraction also needs room for decoded files.

Try this: Close memory-heavy tabs, try a current desktop browser, or use a desktop converter.

RAR extractor FAQ

These answers describe the current browser-only extraction workflow, including the cases it intentionally does not support yet.

How do I extract a RAR file online?

Choose a complete .rar file, wait for the metadata scan, review the paths, and click Extract files. When the list is ready, use the download link beside each file. The normal workflow runs in your browser without a required upload.

Can I extract a RAR file without uploading it?

Yes. RAR2ZIP opens the selected archive with a WebAssembly engine and creates temporary local download links. The page does not send the archive to a required extraction server.

Does this work with WinRAR files?

It can work with complete, single-volume RAR archives created by WinRAR or compatible programs when the browser engine supports their settings. WinRAR does not need to be installed.

Can I extract a password-protected RAR archive?

Not in the current version. If the directory needs a password, the extractor shows an unreadable state instead of making guessed or incomplete downloads. Use a trusted local utility for password-based extraction.

Why is my multipart RAR file not supported?

Multipart archives need companion files such as .part2.rar or .r01. Selecting one volume can be incomplete, so this page accepts one complete single-volume .rar file and rejects common multipart names.

Can I use the RAR extractor on Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android?

It can work in modern desktop and some mobile browsers with JavaScript and WebAssembly enabled. Large archives are usually more comfortable on desktop because mobile memory limits are tighter.

Is there a file size limit?

The current input limit is 512 MB, but the practical limit can be lower because the browser needs memory for the source and extracted files. Use a desktop utility for very large archives.

Are my files stored or scanned?

The normal extraction keeps the selected archive in the browser session. RAR2ZIP does not intentionally store the source archive or place its file names in the URL. Keep your browser updated and process only files you may use.

Can I download all extracted files as one ZIP?

This page is designed for individual downloads. If you need one portable archive, use the site's RAR to ZIP converter after confirming that the source archive is supported.

Extract one RAR file without installing software

Start with the local extractor above, review the archive names, and download only the files you need. If you need one ZIP container instead, open the related RAR to ZIP converter.
